One of Jed's assignments at his job is to help make maps for the ATV trails in San Juan County. These past two weeks he was asked to go out on some of the trails (I know, tough duty) and get GPS coordinates and just get an idea of where the trails are. He asked if I wanted to go with him. Of course, I said "yes".
The first outing was just "me and the guys". I don't know how I get into these "situations" where I am the only female along and hold up the whole group.
We rode on he "Two Mile" trail on the LaSal Mountains. We went a lot further than two miles. It was a beautiful ride.
Sometimes it take a chain saw to get through
Our next outing was out on the South Elk
I actually thought these were elk because of their huge antlers but turns out it was two very big, beautiful bucks!
We rode the "Peavine Trail". A large mountain lion had obviously gone down the same trail. Unfortunately, we didn't see him, just his tracks.
We picked up a horny toad to take home for the grandkids to see. We returned him to his natural habitat a few days later on our next outing.
This was the "Gooseberry Trail". We liked it a lot. It was so much fun.
Our next outing was a few days later....back to the North Elk
We rode the "Beef Basin" trail and the "North Long Point" trail.
We saw bear tracks everywhere but the tracks were always going the opposite direction than we were going. We found out there are a lot of fun trails in San Juan County. We have only seen a few of them. There are many more!
