When hard things happen!

On June 8th we got one of "those" calls, you know the call that wakes you up from a sound sleep, (it was only 10:30 PM but, yes, we were sound asleep) and you look at caller ID and see it is from your daughter and you panic.  After not being able to wake up enough to figure out how to answer the call before it was too late, I called Noelle back.  She was at the hospital.  Scout had fallen out of a second story window, a very high window, and landed on the cement driveway below. The accident had happened a couple of hours before the call.  They had done x-rays at American Fork Hospital and had determined that she had a broken wrist, a broken hip, a fractured scull, fractured orbit (bone around the eye), a ruptured spleen, and she was very bruised and broken.  They were going to life-flight her to Primary Children's Hospital.  I expressed our love and support and asked Noelle to keep us updated.  As soon as I hung up I decided that I should go up and offer what support I could and help Noelle out at her house with her other kids.  I texted Noelle and told her I could leave first thing in the morning and drive up to help.  It was decided that I would do that.  I did not get much sleep the rest of the night. I should have jumped in the car when we got the call from Noelle and driven straight to Cedar Hills. But, in the morning, Stacy offered to go with me to help drive and to help out at Noelle's and so it turned out to be a good thing I had waited.  Having Stacy go was so appreciated and she was so much help driving up and it was so great to have her there for the days that we were at Noelle's.

Here is a picture of Scout at the American Fork hospital.

This is how Scout looked when I first saw her at Primary Children's Hospital.  It was heart wrenching!

Noelle's and Trent's ward was super.  They offered so much help.  This is a picture of a bunch of them who gathered in front of the house and made a big sign for Scout.

The following pictures are of the progress that Scout made in just a few days.  It was amazing how fast she healed!

Just 4 days after the accident, Scout was given the ok to go home.  She still had some healing to do but the progress she had made was amazing!!

Even just the little bit of exertion of getting ready to go home and then the drive wore her out.  She fell fast asleep in the car.

There were a lot of kids (and adults) from Scout's ward who had gathered to welcome her home! They were so awesome!!

Here's the sign they had made for her.

So happy to be home with family!!!!!

                                                   Grandpa came to visit

Scout wanted to go to church just a few days after getting out of the hospital.  It was Father's Day and the primary kids were singing special songs to their fathers.  She didn't want to miss out.

After three hours of church.......

After visiting the Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point..................

After going to the Dr and getting a pink cast.............................

After a priesthood blessing, prayers, fasting, love & support (her parents were with her continually at the hospital, Noelle stayed over night and was with her every second), Scout has healed amazingly fast.  She still has to take it easy, but she is getting back to normal.  We are so grateful.  Love her so much!!!
