The Crazy Things We Do With Our Family: The Dirty Dash

Somehow Marilyn talked us into signing up to run the "Dirty Dash". It was held in Midway.  The Dirty Dash is a 5K or 10K run through the mud. You get to choose to do the 5K or the 10K.  For some reason that no one quite understands; we chose to do the 10K course. There are mud bogs along the way.  There are obstacles to go over and under. A lot of the time we had to help each other get out of the bogs and a lot of the time we had to keep each other from falling down.   We survived.  The pictures are self-explanatory!!

The kids, Livvy, Addi, Oakley, Logan and Carter had to wait a few hours for their race to start.  Jeremy Redd waited with them.  When it was their turn to run the course, they also got covered from head to foot with that nice, icky, gooey mud.  They loved it.

Marilyn and Kristi had to go a long with them on their run through the mud because they had to have parents with them.

This is what we had looked like before the race.  It took a few showers to get the mud off.  We were digging it out of our ears for days.  We were muddy, exhausted, stiff and tired, but we will definitely do it again when we have the chance!!

Labor Day Weekend...Colorado Fun!!

On Labor Day weekend you can find us in these beautiful surroundings in Colorado.  It rained just as we arrived and this is a picture of what it looked like right after the rain.  The bright light is a rainbow!!

Only half of our family was able to make it this year :( but for those of us who were there, we had fun.

The trap was set outside of this window and it wasn't long before a cute little ground squirrel found himself "trapped".  After showing everyone the cute little guy, he was turned loose to run back to his home. (I didn't get a picture of him)

There were a couple of treks up into Bear Creek to see the bears.  They were beautiful.  Too bad we weren't close enough to get pictures that showed how awesome they were, but I guess I don't really want to be that close!!

There was a lot of sitting and relaxing and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.

The Razor and 4 wheelers were ridden and used for transportation.

Palmer and Josh enjoyed the scenery from the front porch.

There was target practice. Do I look nervous?

There was swimming in the reservoir.

There was a lot of food prepared and consumed.

Livvy almost always had some critter in her hand.  This one was a salamander.

Golfing off of the back deck!!

Once again. the only thing that could get us to leave this beautiful paradise was the need to find a warm shower at home.

Our newest granddaughter, sweet little Rome!

Finally, it was time.  Their new little sister had arrived and these big brothers and sister were excited to meet her.

Can you believe that cute, little, round face!!  And, as you can see, she is one loved little girl.
