Summertime always brings all kinds of activities, including the animal projects. The Blanding grandkids raised pigs, goats, lambs and steers this year. It was a very busy time.
The lambs and goats got to ride in the back of the pickup to go to weigh-in in Monticello. The steers and pigs went the more conventional way and rode over in a trailer!!
There is a lot of work to be done. The animals need to be fed and exercised.
Heather, Cohen and Livvy are
the most dedicated pig farmers there are.
But, Livvy is a little confused about what you do with the pigs. She thinks you are suppose to ride them!!
Logan and Carter did practiced showing their animals.
And then when fair time came, all the animals were washed, sheared, shaved and cleaned up for the show!!
It's time to weigh them in and then each of them are shown. The kids and the animals did awesome!!!
And then, "Pay Day" comes and the animals are sold.
There is usually a lot of mixed feelings on this day as the kids tell their animals good-bye.
