Yard, Hail Storm, Derecho June 6, 2020

One of the things we had extra time for this year was to work on the yard.  It was beginning to take
shape and look descent and then.........

.........this happened:  It was called a "Derecho" and was a giant, amazing, damaging hail storm.
There was no warning, just a sudden onslaught of wind and hail.
It lasted 10 to 15 minutes and left a path of destruction.
What had been a decently groomed yard,
took on a new look and I didn't like the new look.
And the whole town looked the same.
Some houses had broken windows, some had damaged siding,
some had ruined roofs.  Even car windows were broken.

This is the size of the hail stones.

This is how the front yard looked covered in tree limbs.

This poor little bird was so wet and beaten and cold it was just huddled in the gutter.
We didn't know if it was going to survive but Stacy took it in her house and
warmed it up and dried it off and then it was able to fly away.

Can you see the flooded road behind the kids, at the intersection?

This is the garden.  We figured we would have to replant but luckily these plants recovered.
