We were very sad when our Aunt Doris Alexander passed away on May 31, 2020 at the age of 98.
She had been a big part of our lives and left a hole. We love her.
Here are a few pictures of her.

Aunt Doris spent her the last few years of her life in an assisted living center in Bountiful, Utah.
She was happy there.
Family members tried to visit her often.
Doris Mae Adams Alexander passed away on May 31, 2020 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born February 23, 1922 in Blanding, Utah to Melvin Jens Adams and Mary Lydia (Mamie) Jones Adams.
Her childhood was spent in Blanding, Carlisle Ranch (north of Monticello), Beaver Range and
Disappointment Creek in Colorado. The sheep grazing land determined where the family
was living each season of the year.
Her school years were enjoyed in Blanding at the elementary school and San Juan High School, graduating in 1940. Doris attended the state agricultural college in Logan, Utah for two years
before transferring to the University of Utah, where she graduated with honors, June 6, 1944. She
earned a Bachelor's degree in the School of Education with a High school Teacher's Certificate.
She taught Home Economics in Driggs, Idaho, Moab, Utah, Blanding, Utah and at Carbon College in Price, Utah. Later she was hired by the Utah State Agricultural College as the County Home Demonstration Agent and instructor in Sevier and San Juan Counties. Then she served a
proselyting mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Australia.
After returning from her mission, Doris married LaRay Alexander, June 7, 1961 in the Manti temple, becoming a wife, mother and grandmother at the same time. They built a home in Blanding
where LaRay completed his teaching career and they raised their family. They enjoyed
traveling as a family and had many great summer adventures. Extended family was always
important, and they hosted and attended many family reunions.
The gospel of Jesus Christ was a very important part of Doris' life. She served in many
different callings in all the organizations of the Church. Doris served for 20 years with LaRay in the
Family History Center of the San Juan Stake. They also served 2 family History Missions,
one to Seattle and one in Salt Lake City. She was sharing the gospel right to the end and was
always eager to bear her testimony. She performed many acts of quiet service to family and friends.
She was a great example to her family of choosing the right and enduring to the end.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son (Jon), grandson James Slavens, and
sisters Elaine Adams and Audrey Adams Halliday (Fred). She is survived by her daughters,
Karen Slavens, (Jim), Blanding, Pamela Schurig, American Fork, Mary Margaret North (John),
Centerville, son, David Alexander (Tina), Orem and daughter-in-law, Nicholle Haycock,
St. George, along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the San Juan Mortuary in Blanding, Utah on June 8, 2020 at 10am.
Interment was in the Blanding City Cemetery.
